North Okanagan Cinderella Project

.The North Okanagan Cinderella Project was introduced to our community in 2001.   The project came about after Teens Count Too connected with another group (Joan Short, Dan Gage, Carol Bliss and Gord Born) with a similar interest. The Cinderella Project provides underprivileged high school graduates with formal attire so they can attend their graduation festivities with pride.  Assistance could include photos, dry grad fees, banquet tickets, hair styling and makeup as well as gowns and tuxedos.  Without assistance these students could not afford to participate in celebrating this important milestone.  Students are referred to our committee through their school counselors and assistance is granted based on need.  To date we have not had to deny any of the applicants but the issue that confronts us is our ability to continue as the need and numbers rise.
